A Life on the Coast

The price of houses in France varies greatly from region to region and if you are thinking of buying a second home there you should do your research properly to make sure that you end up with the home of your dreams before your arrange your mortgages in france

If you are looking for a coastal property you are likely to have to pay a premium, as coastal property does not come cheap, but if you are flexible on location you may find that it is quite affordable.

The highest property prices are on the Cote D'Azur and the high demand has meant that this area is only accessible to those with a hefty budget.

You can pay hundreds of thousands of Euros for a small two room flat with a view on the Med but if you are prepared to move inland slightly to areas like Grasse, the price goes down dramatically. It is less than half an hour's drive from the coast and you can find an apartment double the size for the same price and with a distant view of the sea.

Another option is to move further west to the Languedoc region where prices are lower than on the Riviera. You can find some beautiful properties there, although the region is much quieter and you do not get the buzz that you will find in Nice or Cannes.
